my mother and arlo

My mother with Arlo Guthrie at the Music Pier in Ocean City, New Jersey a few years ago. I’m not sure exactly what year it was. Maybe 2002. Neither one of us knew it would be the last chance we’d have to spend a couple of days goofing off with a bunch of friends somewhere like this. I think she even drove part of the way.

A while back I proposed that a couple of friends and I start a photoblog for members of the Group W community. That would be the fine folks who frequent ArloNet, several of whom are my closest friends in real life. I count Dave, the webmaster there as one of those friends. His life has gotten busy the last couple of years and he hasn’t got as much time to post photos that are sent in as he used to, and people are always posting, asking where they can send something they’ve taken. It sounded like a plan but it didn’t go anywhere. I set it up, and there it sits. I understand that. There are only so many hours in the day, after all. I don’t have a ton of my own pictures. Not enough for a separate blog for them, so I figure I’ll post them over here. If anyone wants to revisit working on the other one, we can do that, too.

I’m starting with one that isn’t mine, but it does consitute a group shot that gets a few of us in the picture at once.

Friends

On the left is Shelly and Jay. They’re from Dallas. Jay runs a violin shop and Shelly reminds me of Molly Ivins, both the way she talks and the way she thinks. Next are Mark and Deb, a couple of the best friends anyone could ask for. In the back, that’s my husband during one of his rare short-haired periods. I’m kind of peeking out, between him and Sherry. Next to her is her husband, Ken. They live in both Massachusetts and Lousiana but more often than not they’re somewhere else altogether. If you call and say you need them, they’ll happily cross the country to help you out.
